Blair to the UN?

Nope, sorry, don’t believe it.

Tony Blair is keeping open the option of a move to New York with his
wife Cherie for a top job at a revamped United Nations after he steps
down as Prime Minister, Government sources have indicated.

Such a move would not only keep Mr Blair, who is only 53, on the world
stage after he quits but also offer money-spinning possibilities for
the couple on the lecture circuit, and a glamorous new way of life.

Any official role (including the mooted permanent EU Presidency) would not allow him to go on that very lecture circuit. He’s got a mortgage to pay you know.

  1. It also means that if he was ever charged in a British court with war crimes he would be out of jurisdiction – it took nearly 30 years for Pinochet to go from saviour of his country from the communist menace to in the dock but he only killed about 3,500.

There is a house for sale in connaught square remarkably similar to the Blah’s (there are also four pretty similar ones to rent for £2500k a week which is not going to cover that mortgage. Might be worth checking if TB is selling up?
