No, wouldn’t say I was surprised:
Allegations that Labour is improperly using taxpayers money effectively
to refund trade union donations are being examined by police as the
"loans for peerages" affair escalated.
Labour is already facing a Metropolitan Police
investigation into the so-called cash for honours affair. But last
night Scotland Yard confirmed that it was examining a new complaint
over a Government fund of up to £10 million which was set up in 2004 to
help unions modernise.
Derek Green, a Tory
grassroots activist, e-mailed Scotland Yard last week with a "complaint
of corruption by the Labour Government".
"The unions provided some £10 million towards the funding of the Labour Party 2005 election campaign.
"The
Government has provided £10 million to the trades unions for the
purposes of various aspects of modernisation," claimed Mr Green, a
former constituency chairman in Shipley, West Yorks.
This is simply how politics works. You give me your support to get elected and I’ll give you what you want at the expense of the people who didn’t support me to get elected. What the hell else does anyone think it’s all about?
