Ahem:
The names of hundreds of
Guantanamo Bay inmates have been revealed for the first time after the
Pentagon lost a freedom of information.
Interesting story though:
Previously just anonymous voices from the United
States detention facility at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, yesterday the
names of hundreds of Afghan, Algerian, Saudi, Yemeni, Moroccan and
Syrian inmates were revealed for the first time after the Pentagon lost
a freedom of information case in a federal court.
More
than 5,000 pages of documents reluctantly released in full by the US
authorities provide the names and an astonishing glimpse into the lives
of the Guantanamo inmates, the serious charges against them – and the
comic moments as well as the Kafkaesqe.
There are
fascinating details from the documents, which all cover the proceedings
of American military tribunals, of British connections in the battle
between Islamists and the West.
