Looks like that old joke about Salman Rushdie (his next book will be "Piss Off Buddha, You Old Fat Bastard") had something to it as now we seem to have Hindus taking offense:
Hindus are demanding that Royal Mail withdraws one of
this year’s Christmas stamps, claiming the mother and child image it
represents is insulting to their religion.
The
68p Christmas stamp, which would be used to send mail to India,
features a man and woman with Hindu markings worshipping the infant
Christ.
Actually, it’s not "Hindus" at all.
Ramesh Kallidai, secretary general of the Hindu Forum of Britain, said
the image was insensitive, because it showed people who were clearly
Hindu worshipping Christ.
It’s an "Hindu Community Leader" which is rather a different thing.
Although it has been in existence for little over eighteen months, the Hindu Forum of Britain (HFB)
Nothing like a little manufactured controversy to get your name in the papers, eh?
