ID Cards Bill.

Yes, sadly it passed, on a reduced majority. It’s now up to the Lords to gut it. One nice quote:

Bob Marshall-Andrews, another Labour rebel, complained
that the Bill would give the Government the power to order people to
attend a meeting to have their fingerprints and other biometric
information taken for inclusion on the register.

"It
is not since the Domesday Book – a system of registration put into
place by the Normans, or the New Normans as I suspect they were known –
that British people have been required with their families to attend a
certain place at a certain time in order to have their details
measured," he said.

Why not Offer to have your ID card number tatooed onto say your arm?
P.S. What colour star do I need to sew onto my jacket to identify myself as an atheist?
