From the Telegraph:
Galveston, scene of a hurricane in 1900 that killed between 6,000 and
12,000 people, has a population of 58,000, and lies on an island eight
feet above sea level. Yesterday, about 80 school buses were set to
leave the city bound for shelters 100 miles north in Huntsville.
From Instapundit:
JUDGING FROM THIS
PHOTOGRAPH, the New Orleans authorities had plenty of unused buses had
they chosen to take people out of the city rather than coop them up in
the Superdome or the Convention Center. Now, of course, they’re flooded
and useless for the purpose. I don’t know why they didn’t make use of
them on Saturday and Sunday. Not enough drivers?
It would appear that there is a difference between Texas and Louisiana. Naah, couldn’t be.
Haven’t we been told that everything is the fault of FEMA/the Feds/Bush/HalliburtonChimpyMcSmirks Amerikka?
