This reminds me of the Bowie tour where he asked fans to pre-select the set list. A concerted effort was made to ensure that “The Laughing Gnome” was successful. Although it got the votes, Bowie still declined to play it.
Your question is unfortunately the “Laughing Gnome” of mainstream UK politicians. Although it’s a hit with the public, the NME likes to think it knows better. -
