Drug Legalization.

I didn’t know that we actually had a think tank arguing for the only sane and sensible policy on drugs. Apparently we do:

Transform

Transform
        is seeking to reform policies that have attempted to control drug use
        through criminal justice enforcement, a failed approach that has been
        enormously destructive. Rather than eliminating drugs from society, drug
        prohibition has served only to criminalise millions of users and to create
        lucrative and dangerous illegal markets controlled by organised criminals.
       

      

Dismantling
        prohibition and regulating the market will have a number of direct and
        immediate impacts:

Get round there and read the rest of their arguments. Now, if we can just get the politicians to listen….

  1. Transform have been making a great deal of sense for a number of years. But don’t hold out much hope of this lot listening after the dogs breakfast they made of reforming the canabis laws.
    Tony has got a real thing for the ‘Tough on Crime’ and ‘Prison Works’ mantras, and the media aren’t up for it either. Remember the response Chris Davies, lib dem MEP got earlier this month?

  2. I don’t find them very good at all. They simply use drugs as a cover for socialist ideas. Luckily I remembered, this blogger wrote a good post on them a while ago:
