Now There’s a Surprise.

Really?

The government has
admitted that it has been guilty of "overselling" the case for a
compulsory national identity card scheme in Britain and conceded that
it will not prove a panacea for fraud, terrorism or the abuse of public
services.

So now that they have admitted that it won’t actually do all the things they’ve promised perhaps they would like to explain why they do want to spend 18 billion of our money on it? Or is that expecting too much?

  1. Did you notice the as I did the constant referrals to how the Lords may block the legislation? e.g.
He warned that the battle over compulsion would end up being constantly batted back and forth because the government could not use the Parliament Act to override the Lords opposition because it is to be done by secondary legislation.
Would anyone like to bet that House of Lords reform is the next announcement from the Third Term Reich?

  2. With this bunch and their well-know predilection for ‘never being seen to be wrong’ we’ll get the I.D. cards in, complete with all the expense, just in time for the terrorists to sign up to the ‘Whit Sunday Agreement’ whereby they are given the keys to Westminster!
