Places to Emigrate To.

Have you ever wanted to leave the country? Wander off somewhere else in search of the good life? Well, New Zealand has just come up with a good reason to go there, if you can survive on a diet of mutton and butter.

In New Zealand, population four million, the imbalance is even more marked, with 24,000 more women than men in their thirties.

Over all age groups, New Zealand had a shortfall of 66,000 males last year.

The beer’s pretty horrible too but the wine can be good. Probably a good idea to drink wine anyway if you’re going to try and help solve that "man drought".

  1. If you are emigrating for the sole purpose of finding an imbalance of men and women and hope to get acquainted with the latter, I doubt very much that Russia can be beaten in this regard.

On the flip side, although the total state population of alaska has a roughly 1:1 ratio, in more remote parts of the state (ie most of it) there are five men to every woman. And they’re hunky, build-your-own-shelter with nothing but a leatherman and a reindeer you killed with your bare hands kind of men.
This has spawned the “alaska men” magazine, to introduce these forgotten treasures to the more adventurous female inhabitants of the contiguous 48.
Plus, in alaska, I seem to remember, there is no sales tax, no income tax, and the government pays you $1,000 a year for each member of your family.
Of course, it’s ass cold, and alaska is the only state whose capital that is not accessible by road. But you have your mountain man to snuggle up to and fly you to the shops in his wee plane.

  6. Other places with a favourable male to female ratio for women are many of the Arab countries.
I think I prefer the sound of Alaska.
Tim adds: What’s the matter with the Arab countries? Didn’t your mother tell you it’s a good thingto share with others? Or are husbands a step too far for that?

  7. I like having a vote and equal status under the law, amongst other things.
And yes, husbands are a step too far. It’s a question of hygiene.
