Theo Van Gogh

Peaktalk, who has been doing sterling reporting on the Theo Van Gogh murder trial, has the report on the verdict. As he says, pretty much a foregone conclusion. life without parole.

One trivial note:

The sentence further includes Bouyeri’s obligation to pick up Van Gogh’s funeral/cremation costs

But I ask you, what was wrong with using a stout length of hemp?
Tim adds: Illegal in Europe. Can’t remember if it’s the EU or the Council of Europe or one of hte other ones, but cannot be a member if you have capital punishment. A good thing to my mindtoo, even if it seems not to extend to Brazilians.

My only problem with capital punishment is we do not use it enough, nor is the range of crimes to which it applies broad enough. “A noose for every common law felon,” says I. 😉
