John Berger in the Observer:
The same bad faith
encouraged them to lie about the weapons of mass destruction which did
not exist. Bin Laden was certainly planning his attacks against the
West before the Iraq war, but that war and what was and is happening
there, is supplying al-Qaeda with a steady flow of new recruits. Eliza
Manningham-Buller, head of MI5, is said to have warned other G8
countries about the danger ‘of a new generation of fanatics as a result
of the war in Iraq’. And she, one can assume, knows what she is talking
about.
That’s interesting, isn’t it? I’ve just proved that the security services are a bunch of lying bastards and we can assume that they know what they’re talking about. Umm, picking and choosing what one wishes to believe perhaps?
In this context, it is
not the Koran that should be studied but the behaviour of the richest
countries and corporations in the world. Those corporations
consistently wage their own ‘jihad’ against any target that opposes the
maximisation of their profits.
Hunh? The provision to people of what they want in the form that they want it is jihad? Exploding shareholders on the Tube perhaps? The murder of those who opt out? Tesco assassinating those who grow their own vegetables? WalMart execution squads?
Man’s off his trolley….yes, the one with the wonky wheel.
