The young are so in touch, aren’t they, not just observers of but the creaters of the vibrant culture that we see around us. Take this young wonder, Ms Stothard.

Sex has replaced cooking in the world of feminine
one-upmanship. I’m more surprised to see a cookbook taking up shelf
space in my friends’ student bedrooms than I am to see The Joy of Sex
or How to Give Absolute Pleasure.

I know the
recipe for a multiple orgasm, but if you put five eggs and a frying pan
in front of me I’d need to Google the word "omelette" before actually
making one.

This is all so new isn’t it? There’s never been a woman writer claiming to be more interested in sex than cooking now has there? If you don’t believe me go ask Erica Jong and Germaine Greer.

(A thought occurs here which is that in 50 years time our Anna will be doing the gardening column for The Oldie).

Really, yes, so cool, hip, up to date and different. Why, she might be living in a different world from the rest of us:

an Oxford student actually set up a blog sight

I’ll bet that was a site to see.
