Lions Team for the Second Test.

Here’s the Lions team for the second Test:

15-Josh Lewsey (England); 14-Jason Robinson (England), 13-Gareth
Thomas (captain, Wales), 12-Gavin Henson (Wales), 11-Shane Williams
(Wales); 10-Jonny Wilkinson (England), 9-Dwayne Peel (Wales); 8-Ryan
Jones (Wales), 7-Lewis Moody (England), 6-Simon Easterby (Ireland),
5-Donncha O’Callaghan (Ireland), 4-Paul O’Connell (Ireland); 3-Julian
White (England), 2-Steve Thompson (England), 1-Gethin Jenkins (Wales).

Replacements: 16-Shane Byrne (Ireland), 17-Graham Rowntree (England),
18-Martin Corry (England), 19-Martyn Williams (Wales), 20-Matt Dawson
(England), 21-Stephen Jones (Wales), 22-Shane Horgan (Ireland).

Weird selection there but I can’t believe that it will do worse than the last one.

Might have been wiser to have a hooker who can throw, though.

  2. There’s only a need for a hooker that can throw, if you think the All Blacks are going to put the ball out of play. Chances are they are going to have so much fun running rings around Lewsey and Robinson, that there will be no time for touch line kicking.
That said, there’s enough new blood in the Lions team to (potentially) make an exciting and high scoring match of it.

  3. I was expecting to see Bulloch and Sheridan in there somewhere. Having Byrne on the bench seems pointless, as does Rowntree. Both are good players, but on current form will offer nothing extra if they are brought onto the pitch. Sheridan adds tremendous strength. Bulloch adds a decent lineout throw.
Cusiter should also have got a slot on the bench, and probably Hodgson. Again, both would, if subbed on, bring something new to the game.
