Your Tax Money At Work.

It’s difficult to know why we pay for these fools and poltroons in Government….other than the fact that they can jail us if we don’t, of course. From Booker’s column:

Defra may seem to be doing all it can to destroy our
fishing and farming industries, but at least it has at heart the
interests of one group in the countryside.

Hundreds
of posters have been sent out by Prof Ian Rivers, of Leeds University’s
social inclusion unit, appealing for participants in "a research
project focusing on the needs and experiences of lesbians, gay men and
bisexual men and women living in rural communities". The "Rural LGB
Project," Prof Rivers proudly explains, "is supported by Defra".

No doubt I’m being grossly homophobic or something but are we really sure that this is a wise use of tax money?

Hidden in here somewhere there must be a joke concerning Wales and sheep?

Apologies for the dealy in responding to your posting and thanks for the free advertising.
Alas Mr Booker never checked his facts before publishing his article – no tax money was used, nor did I ever say ‘proudly’ or otherwise “is supported by Defra” as I never spoke to Mr Booker. The “support” by Defra was ‘in kind’ allowing us to use their logo in return for the offer of adding questions of interest to the department.
The demise of rural post offices, transport links and farming heritage is, of course, important, as is the isolation and loneliness experiences by those who feel they do not belog to the communities in which they live or grown.
