Here’s one for the files:
Speaking at the American Association for the Advancement of Science
conference in Washington yesterday, Prof Allen said: "Animal source
foods have some nutrients which are not found anywhere else. There’s
absolutely no question that it’s unethical for parents to bring up
their children as strict vegans."
The response?
However, Sir Paul McCartney, the former Beatle, told BBC Radio 2’s
Jeremy Vine Show that he had been a vegetarian for 20 years and raised
his children the same way with no ill-effects. "I really do think this
is rubbish,” he said.
Umm Hhhm. Songwriter against tenured professor who has done research. Yes, I know appeals to authority are an error of logic but I know which side of this debate I come down on. Especially since it provides an opportunity to prod vegans with the line "How could you do that to your children?"
