So to "take back control of immigration", as he says he wants to do, Mr
Howard would have to repeal the Human Rights Act and withdraw
completely from the European Convention on Human Rights. Accepting that
convention and abiding by it is, however, a condition of membership of
the European Union.

Fine by me. Let’s leave. It isn’t that I care all that much about the asylum issue, but leaving has always been a good idea, any excuse will do.
