The Guardian has got Jared Diamond (Guns,Germs and Steel is fabulous. I’m less enamoured of Collapse, the new one, from what I’ve seen of it in extracts.) to answer questions online. You’ve got until the 20th to ask your questions here. One already in the queue is this, which I think might be an early contender for Moonbat of the Year award:
I read recently that
the earthquake of December 26 and the resulting tsunami may have been
caused by a previous earthquake of magnitude 8.1 that occurred more
than 500 miles southease of Tasmania on December 24th
(http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsww/Quakes/ussjal.htm). Previous to
the Dec 24 earthquake there had been tests of the ocean floors to test
for oil and gas using "sound bombings" or seismic tests of the ocean
floor – that create low frequency sound waves powerful enough to
penetrate up to 40 km below the seafloor, and are between 200 and 230
decibels of sound
(http:independent-media.tv/item.cfm?fmedia_id=10211&fcategory_desc=Uner%20reported).
A jet plane on take off is 120 decibels.
There were numerous whales themselves during the last few months near
where the tests took place in Tasmania.
In
has been demonstrated that mankind’s activities in oil exploration can
cause seismic activity
(http://www.oilfield.slb.com/media/resources/oilfieldreview/ors00/sum00/p2_17.pdf).
To make a long story shorter, do you think it is possible that the
"sound bombings" of the ocean floor could have caused the first quake,
which then dominoed into the second and larger quake?
Yup, the tsunami caused by oil companies raping Gaia.
