Just a little snippet that throws some light on the International  Aid circus. Someone from Oxfam:

She praised government donations for the Darfur region and neighbouring
Chad where donors converted nearly all of their $450 million pledge
into specific commitments within eight months.

This is what is regarded as a good result, that after only eight months governmental promises had been converted into specific committments. No word on how much has actually been delivered yet, of course. No, there has to be a better way, one without these layers of stultifying bureaucracy and meetings. But then what would the UN do all day? Quite.
