The Moral Causes of Earthquakes.

Martin Kettle does a round up of the various possible religious and moral explanations for the existence of earthquakes. He seems to have missed out Diocletian’s reasoning, which was that they are caused by homosexuals. Not sure what to make of such ancient reasoning myself as it would appear to mean that we would have to blame Peter Tatchell, something quite obviously absurd. However, I will guarantee that there is some crazed cleric out there, not necessarily Islamic, who will be blaming recent events on the manner in which humanity has strayed from the righteous path. It is a sad commentary on human nature that such ideas abound at times like these, and do far more damage to lives than the original natural disasters.
