A look at how business is sometimes done in the wilder parts of Russia:
The victims, whose dismembered bodies were found at the weekend, were business partners of Ali Kaitov, the son-in-law of the president. He allegedly ordered their murder after inviting them to his dacha.
Assassinations are common throughout Russia and especially in the Caucasus, where ethnic rivalries and blood feuds continue to play an important role. But the brutality of the killings has shocked even people used to violence after a decade of conflict in nearby Chechnya.
Non-Russians tend not to get caught up in these things (although I knew at least one who did and died) but this is the exciting milieu in which I have made my living for the past 13 years. Fun eh?
