Actually clicked through one of the ads on Sitemeter for a change and was led to this interesting little tool. In a way its like Alexa and so on, taking a statistical snapshot and then trying to tell you where you are in the overall rankings of web pages around the world. The benefit seems to be that it goes much further down the listings, making small blogs like this visible.
As of 7 pm London time today this blog appears to be number 4,462,500 from the top. However, using the alternative URL, timworstall.typepad.com/timworstall, it appears to think it is number 1,035. I can imagine it might be within the typepad system (well, I can just about imagine it) but certainly not for the whole net. http://www.google.com is number 4 which sounds about right, and Glenn Reynolds is 10,673.
OK, maybe it is just a problem with looking within Typepad (maybe other domains) for its about got google right and the gap between myself and insta seems about right…two orders of magnitude plus.
Anyway, fun little thing I thought.
