Further to our desire to update Cato. I contacted the European Union’s translation service and found that they do, in fact, have a latin translation department. A wonderful use of taxpayers’ money of course. Still I think that we shall have to change our little phrase , for of course we want them to know that we are referring to them, so perhaps we should use the phrase that they themselves use. They regard themselves as “Unio Europaea”
So our phrases now become ” Unio Europaea Delenda Est” and “Ceterum censeo Unio Europaeum esse delendam”. Unless someone wants to tell me that “Unio” should also change, I think that’s what we’ll stick with.
