Just in time for your summer reading at the beach we have the first volume of Sgt. Mom’s memoirs. For those of you who are not au fait with the good Sgt. she is the one who provides wit, style and some quite excellent stories about life the universe and everything over at Sgt. Stryker’s. To get a flavour of the book you can go to the main site and flip through those posts written by Sgt. Mom (look for the one with the advice to the French:”Grow a pair”), you can look here for an extract, or one can go here to order the book already. Just so that you know is is called “Our Grandpa Was an Alien”. I guess that means that Cpl. Blondie’s Great Grandfather was as well.
Anyway, since I recommended the publisher to the author I hope it is a smashing success and I urge readers to at least check it out, if not buy copies for thier entire family and any friends they might have managed to retain (I am aware that imbibing of the opinions on my pages is inimical to retaining friendships).
I should also point out that I, and I alone (other than the Sgt. Stryker crew), know the real name of the author and I have promised not to reveal it unless I am offered a huge bribe and the book also sells 10,000 copies before the end of August 2004. So there is a further incentive to get this book well known and well purchased.
