I’m often accused of being an anti-environmentalist : there are screeds all over sci.environment about how evil I am. All of them miss the point: no, I don’t want to choke my grandchildren on the effluvia of civilisation, I just disagree with the methods by which we can avoid that.
Acidman has it right :
The reason that the good old USA has cleaner water, better air and more trees than it did when I was a boy IS NOT because of the environmental movement. It’s because we have the wealth, time and inclination to spend on such a pursuit. You want to save the earth? Create wealth. Period.
