Again the Torygraph :
Barristers are refusing to represent defendants facing serious charges of fraud, rape and murder after a dispute with Lord Falconer that has spread rapidly since the beginning of the month.
and
Mr Hall recently represented one of several defendants accused of kidnapping a man in his home and bludgeoning him to death in front of his family.
“The prosecution served additional evidence virtually every day during the eight-week trial,” Mr Hall said yesterday. “I could not read it without ringing my contract manager first. I had to spend 15 minutes on the phone at the end of every day to persuade him to allow us to work overnight.”
Contract managers do not require legal qualifications or court experience. Barristers have been refused permission to view prosecution video evidence because it takes too long. They say that complying with the contracts could put them in breach of the Bar’s code of conduct.
So the old room mate of the Prime Minister is doing a wonderful job again.
We really do need to start using the verb ” to falconer “.
